5 Elements of the Close

 

1. Read motion/pre-assault cue: Read weakness or motion or intention in your opponent.  


2. Startle: Explode energy forward.  Use forward pressure on your opponent to create weakness in him.  Very quickly, place your hands on his biceps.  


3. Close/enter at the opponent: Cross the vital distance and take the space away.    


4. Shutdown/touch limit motion:  Shut him down, stick, then hit (distract)    


5. Finish: Take to the ground or leave.  Or go for fingers.
